Recently spent day in Lincoln, mostly around Castle Hill and St. Paul in the Bail area. Allowed to take dog into cathedral, surprisingly, cathedral authorities seem far more liberal than they use to be. Made a great fuss of by one of the vergers. Tea outside No. 1 Castle Hill. Trip to York on Friday all but wrecked by continuous heavy rain but did ‘do’ Castle Museum, having not been for years, and it was really good, and not too crowded. Last Thursday covered the penultimate stretch of the River Hull bank, that being from Wilfholme Landing upstream to the mouth of the Driffield Canal.
